Lions from Inverloch, Korumburra, and Leongatha embark on a memorable journey to Licola
On Saturday 4th of May with a few other Lions from Inverloch, Korumburra, Leongatha, we managed to go on a day trip to Licola, which as you know had an open weekend. We were driven very safely and in comfort in a big 57 seater bus by Mike a Lion from Leongatha who was able to borrow and drive the bus. Clubs made a voluntary $100 donation to cover the cost of fuel and whatever was left over was to be donated as well to the owner of the bus who did not want to charge us a hiring fee.
A few new Lions were excited to discover what Licola was about and especially to be able to take part in the Q&A session led by Steve Boyce and the Licola Board. I had invited a non-Lion colleague from Foster Manna Gum Community House and she was really bowled over by the facilities and what it offers to children on camps and the public at large. I ended up putting my hand up with another member from our club of Toora to be volunteers in the kitchen at Lions sponsored camps. This perfect day in the mountains brought a lot of answers and cleared up the air for a lot of us.
And more importantly we were able to share some wonderful fellowship around a home brought lunch. The BBQ was a popular one and we even celebrated with bubbly and chocolate cake a birthday for Max, a Lion from the Inverloch Lions Club. The cake was complements of myself and my kitchen!
At the end of the day we concluded that every club needs more special moments like the ones we experienced at Licola.
